The Knicks announced Monday afternoon that they have officially waived Amar’e Stoudemire, who previously signed a 5 year, $99.7 million contract with New York in 2010. Stoudemire will be expected to clear waivers Wednesday at 5 PM ET. He then will be able to sign with any team that wants him, and Stoudemire hopes to sign with a playoff contender. The Dallas Mavericks have shown some interest in the 32 year-old. The Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and Memphis Grizzlies have also shown some interest in Stoudemire.
Stoudemire will talk with players and coaches from various teams this week to decide where he wants to go to try to contend for a championship. Stoudemire could go and start for the Clippers right now because of the injury to forward Blake Griffin.
